July 24,2010..The Hottest day this summer..100* plus, A Barn fire on Newport Rd.,Ltitz,Pa. Fire Co.'s from Brickerville, Brunnerville, Lititz, Manheim, Neffsville, Penryn & Rothsville fought this small barn fir for over 3 hours. The heat was a big factor in calling lots of help to keep everyone out of heat exhaustion and give everyone a chance to rest. The Ambulance was there to do checks on each fireman to keep them well hydrated (water) and checking their vitals. Everyone goes home safely! Here are few pictures that I took with firemen in Action! This is D. Laverne Stauffer(Past Chief of Neffsville Fire Co.) and his son, Donald Jr. at the LCFA Convention in Strasburg,Pa. in June of 2008. Laverne and his son could always be seen in many Lancaster Co. Parades. It was a pleasure to call him a friend and fellow Volunteer. He gave so many years to his company and Lanc. Co. Firemens Assoc. also.
However Laverne passed away this past week and I attended his Funeral on Monday, July 19th in Neffsville. Many Firemen came to pay Tribute to this Great Man ..Laverne...Neffsville Fire Co. & his family had a very nice funeral planned. There were 2 sets of ladder trucks forming an Arch with Flag, one at the church and the other at the cemetary. A full Fireman's funeral was given in his Honor. Here are a few pictures from that Beautiful Service.
D. Laverne Stauffer was carried to the gravesite on his own Antique Fire Truck " Mom & Dad's" Fire Co.
The procession was also followed by the Neffsville Antique Fire Truck, which Laverne spent alot of time with at Numerous Events. They were followed by Fire Co."s Fire Trucks Too.
All the Uniformed Firemen at Graveside.
The 2 favorite Antique Fire Trucks of Neffsville Fire Co. were on Display at the luncheon afterwards.
